We have a separate "Payroll" company set up in GP exclusively for processing payroll. Once posted, we export a summary trial balance to import to our main company GL. This allows us to prevent prying eyes from running a smartlist in main company to ascertain colleagues's salaries. In the "Payroll" company, if I run a GL smartlist, the transactions include the employee name in the Originating Master Name field. We'd like to get rid of the Payroll company and just use the one company, and wonder if there is away to set up security or otherwise to conceal the name field on transactions posted from payroll.
Some of our employees have to enter timecards/pr transactions for their department, and also look up vendors, query reports, etc.. so they would need to have access to Smartlist and see the Originating Master Name field for GL, AP and AR activity, but shouldn't have the ability to piece together salaries.
