Closed PO with new Receipts

Situation
Client orders TUB from supplier on Wednesday, to be delivered as soon as possible.  To the supplier that means when ever possible.  As these products are delivered directly to a building site, they are not delivered to company warehouse first - so the supplier driver drops product off as a list of addresses as they get them.  This is any time of the day or night and can be on weekend.

When the supplier fills the order ( at the front desk ) there is an invoice generated and sent to the customer.

When that invoice is received it will be recorded into the system against the PO

When the item is delivered (confirmed or otherwise) it is recorded as a Receipt entry against the PO

PROBLEM
Shortly after the client places the PO with the supplier the end customer ( builder ) decides that this is the wrong tub and contacts his contact at our client office and 'cancels' the tub.  That person then tells someone else and finally the PO for the TUB is flagged as CANCEL

Challenge, this time lag may be long enough that the supplier has actually gotten on the ball and setn the tub our for delivery already.  Once that happens they will simply drop the tub on site and drive away.  The Invoice will be sent to the client and that is where the fun starts.

Now we have a canceled PO and therefore we can no record anything against it.  BUT we have a TUB sitting on site and an invoice in hand for the TUB.

CURRENT Resolution

PO / Payables Manager keeps a running list of the CANCEL POs and records the invoice and the shipment against the paper file - but there is no where in the system to record what happened.

REQUEST

Is there a way to do a "Soft Close" on the PO so that Invoice and Credits or Returns can be entered but nothing new can be added and no changes can be made.
